#Chapter1#Chapter2#Chapter3

It was metric year and Liz worked so hard and deprived herself any social life. All she thought of was her future. Indeed the Sekhosana girl did make her mother proud. If only your father was here to see this, her mother said with her face full of tears of joy he would be very proud. She had achieved four distinctions. That truly was a job well done she thought to herself.

Thank goodness for her father's hard work she was going to go to tertiary. She was going to study civil engineering in the University of Cape Town. It took her full four years it was hard but she kept on persevering and with hard work and dedication she graduated top of her class. With all those good marks companies were fighting for her and finally she took the best one that offered her the best opportunities. She started small as an intern and worked her way up to management level.  The amount of money she was earning was beyond her. She could not believe it she had made it.

As she was so excited about her new life she received a call from Pulani her grandmother "I'm afraid I have devastating news we lost your mother this afternoon I'm terribly sorry" as  her grandma was still taking she hanged up the phone and burst in to tears. Her grandmother called again and said I'm sorry but I have more bad news... your mother and your siblings were on the way to give you a surprise visit and they all died in a taxi accident. Liz's life came crushing on her feet. She felt all alone and lost without a family. Life felt so meaningless.

She buried her family with dignity and returned back to the Cape. For a full year she felt like she has no reason to go on her life but still persisted, one step at the time. They say time heals. All she did was put herself through a lot of work and worked over time to try and ease her pain. It seemed like the only reasonable thing to do.

Her grandma Puleng used to call her and say child we miss you at home when are you ever going to come back and see us? She always had excuses why she cannot come to see her family.
